Reflection Paper
Last
semester I took the French course, I knew right away it is not easy to learn. I
have learned English for almost ten years, but still can not speak like a
native speaker. So perhaps this is for the reason that I join the Computer Assisted
Language Learning, a course that can totally change me. In addition to speaking,
reading and writing, using computer to learn also can give me a better way than
before.
Before
started the course, I was afraid to communicate with others because my English
is a mess, especially if I give a speech on the stage. What should I do? Through
the course I hope my English can be better such as talking more fluently or
chat without any hesitation.
In
a short semester, what strikes me in all eighteen weeks course is TED. A open
speech web site that people familiar with. I was dreaming that some day I can
be a lecturer talking people my idea and changing their minds. Through a simple
speech, it can innovate countless ideas further. But Behind the success, I
realize that there is no easy path to walk through. Every experience and
failure is the process of success. Sometimes we feel depress or want to give
up, but in our mind we just keep going.
Sometimes my friends look me down,
but I still find a way out. Because I know fear is always an option. No one can
stop us to achieve the goal. That’s what TED is. Always can inspire people!
Their stories always encourage me, their ideas always enlighten me!
Because
of TED, I can speak in English. The first attempt to present in English is so
nervous that I can barely remember what I am going to say, but in a sudden, I
talk to myself,” why not give a try?” there is only a chance I can be a awesome
speecher like TED, and finally, I did it.
After
teacher introduced learning tools- MY ET. I can train my improve the skills by
not only talking with foreign friends, but also using computer to assist. In
fact, my speaking ability is not well. MY ET has all levels, it bring the
several levels I can pick up. In this way I can find adequate teaching to
improve, then step by step to enhance ability in the subsequent higher level. In
the beginning, I feel frustrated When the errors showed, mistakes I made in
pronunciation, volume , intonation and so on ,I have to repeat each sentence
again and again until it right. In order to get the goal, we must practice.
Everybody says that” practice makes perfect”. If we work harder, then there is
no limits to hinder my way.
After
18 weeks courses finished, Computer Assisted Language Learning put what you
have learn to good use. Before that dictionary is my best tutor, but now I can
learn many tools in computer. Such as corpus and online concordances, it help
me writing; MY ET, it train my speaking skills; Some opencoursewares, it let me
learn more many courses which I am interested in; Studio Classroom and TED, it
strengthen my listening ability……and many tools. In the years to come, no
matter where we are, these tools all we learned can help us benefit a lot, and
to get things done more quickly.
